"This course was wonderful! My 11- and 9-year-old sons participated, and it was their first creative writing class.

 

They wrote their ideas on very easy-to-understand support sheets and built a story step by step. Thanks to this structured approach, even beginners like my sons were able to write a story that included plenty of effective figurative language! Even though they didn’t know much about figurative language at first, they learned and were able to use it in their writing. I was very astonished.

 

Each lesson had a different scenario, which made it exciting for my sons. When they received keywords from the teacher, their eyes sparkled, and began creating their story. I was amazed at their focus and creativity.

 

The teacher provided great guidance, introduced them to useful vocabulary, and offered plenty of praise. At first, their sentences, which were quite simple, became more and more expressive. As a result, my sons learned a lot and became much more confident in their writing.

 

I highly recommend this course to everyone. My sons have grown to love creative writing so much that they are eager to take more courses!"

Word Wizards Course Details:

During these five sessions, children will master using various types of figurative language, including similes, metaphors, hyperbole, onomatopoeia, personification, oxymorons, pathetic fallacy and alliteration. The children will have a chance to do a different piece of writing each day, including writing a poem, a description, a dramatic scene, a story continuation and a chapter in a book. Throughout the course, the children will be inspired by texts including Matilda, Alex vs Axel, The Explorer and Varjak Paw. This course is great for children who have not yet completed our Core Skills and Story Writing Course, as well as children who need further practise learning how to use figurative language effectively.

• Each session lasts 1 hour;
• Fully interactive;
• The course is delivered by a highly experienced teacher;
• It takes place online.
• 8 children maximum.
• Homework set and marked.
• £160. All course prices are inclusive of VAT. If you are based outside of the UK, the course price (without VAT) will be updated at checkout but you may be subject to additional bank charges, which are determined by your financial institution.

• Once booked, places are non-refundable as stated in our Terms and Conditions.
• We have a specific waiting list for children who are eligible for free-school meals. If we have spaces on a course, these children will be offered a free space. Contact us if you would like to join this waiting list.
• We engage with self-employed tutors to run our courses on behalf of our business. The tutors running our courses are qualified teachers with exemplary references. The tutors will communicate directly with the clients regarding how they will carry out their service to you, including any details regarding homework. All course tutors hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate and are signed up to the Update Service.
