Cracking Comprehension Club Details:

This 12-week club focuses on developing children's reading skills and teaching children how to understand and analyse a piece of text. Reading is not just about being able to decode words on a page. Developing a child's comprehension skills enables them to make connectives, draw inferences and evaluate information. It encourages children to appreciate the written word, giving them further inspiration to develop their own writing skills. Within the course, children will be exposed to a range of texts and will be taught how to respond to different questions based on the text. They will also develop their creative writing skills, using the comprehension text as a prompt for a writing idea.

  1. Ramya

The course went really well overall. The materials were engaging, and the sessions seemed to be very well-structured. My child enjoyed the interactive activities, and I noticed an improvement in her comprehension skills over the duration of the course.

We were really pleased by the personalized feedback for the children on their progress, as it was very motivating for them. The tutor consistently provided guidance to my daughter and supported her in understanding her strengths and areas for improvement.

Thanks again for the great work you do at Bright Light Education. We look forward to participating in more of your programs in the future.

  2. Mia

My twin boys really enjoyed the comprehension club and they both felt that they’ve improved a lot. I personally really like the comprehensiveness of the course, where it was not just about the comprehension aspect of the text but how it was quite similar to how an actual English section of the 11+ exam may work—from comprehension questions leading up to creative writing. The tutor was always really supportive and encouraged both my boys to take active part. All in all, it was a great course!

  3. Stella

I think that Felicia is a very smart and nice teacher. She explained all that I asked and was very kind. Felicia taught us how to answer retrieval, inference and character questions and creative writing techniques. I enjoyed doing all spelling and vocabulary tasks.
