Bright Light Education is a small and friendly tuition agency. We have a range of tutors to offer you, who tutor both online and face-to-face. These tutors are qualified teachers with over two years of experience (unless stated otherwise on their tutor profile). We have a strict selection process and interview all our tutors. We request all tutors to have a current enhanced DBS check. All our tutors are self-employed.

If you are keen to speak to one of our tutors, we would pass on their details to you and you would speak to them directly to see if you are able to work something out. All scheduling of sessions is done through the tutor and you would come to an agreement with them regarding an hourly rate. Our tutors charge between £25-£65/hr depending on experience and location. There are no other hidden charges and there is no obligation to commit for a set period of time.

COVID-19 (Updated 3rd July 2020)

On 1st July 2020, the government released its latest guidance on tutoring. Tutors are considered OOSS (Out-of-School-Settings). According to the documents referenced below, tuition can resume face-to-face once the summer holidays have started. Before the summer holidays, tutors can only tutor children in early years, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, children of critical workers and vulnerable children. However, the documents state that you should continue to work from home if services can be provided this way. Therefore, if a lesson can be taught online, then this should be the preferred method.

If face-to-face tutoring is the only method (e.g. handwriting lessons), then current guidelines on social distancing apply and currently tutors need to remain 1 metre from the student, and if they can’t then tutors should wear PPE “in the form of a visor”. Tutors must follow the protective measures outlined in the documents and lessons should not take place if the tutor, client or someone in their household has symptoms.
Washing hands regularly is essential and communication should be had with the client on how to reduce the risk.
