“My daughter loves the book club. It is wonderful! She didn’t use to read at all, but this course has inspired her to start reading. The teacher is encouraging, and we’re looking forward to joining the next book.”
Here are some Christmas creative writing ideas to keep your children writing over the Christmas holidays. Happy writing!
1. The Talking Snowman: Imagine your snowman came to life on Christmas Eve! What adventures would you have? Where would you go? What funny things would he say? Write a story about your magical night.
2. Father Christmas’ Lost Reindeer: One of Father Christmas’ reindeer has gone missing! Write a detective story about how you and your friends help Father Christmas find his lost reindeer before Christmas morning. What clues would you find?
3. The Christmas Ornament’s Secret: That sparkly ornament on the tree? It has a secret! Write a story about what the ornament sees and hears on Christmas Eve. Maybe it has a magical power!
4. A Christmas Carol… with a Twist!: Take a classic Christmas carol like ‘Jingle Bells’ or ‘Silent Night’ and rewrite the lyrics to tell a silly or exciting new story. For example, ‘Jingle Bells, Batman smells, Robin flew away…’
5. The Christmas Creature: Imagine a new, funny Christmas creature that helps (or hinders!) Father Christmas. What does it look like? What silly things does it do? Write a description or a short story about your creature.
6. The Gingerbread House Adventure: Your gingerbread house isn’t just for eating! Write a story about what happens when you shrink down and explore the inside of your gingerbread house. What sweet adventures await?
7. A Letter to a Christmas Character: Write a letter to Father Christmas, an elf, or even Jack Frost. Ask them questions, tell them about your year, or even give them some advice!
8. The Day After Christmas: What happens after all the presents are opened? Write a funny story about the day after Christmas. Maybe the toys come to life, or there’s a leftover turkey mishap!
