Terms and Conditions
Bright Light Education Ltd is a registered company (Company Registration Number: 11233536), whose registered office is situated at 56 Harp Road, London W7 1JF. The company website is https://brightlighteducation.co.uk.
You are referred to as ‘the Client’. You agree to the purchase of tutoring services on behalf of ‘the Student’. ‘The Student’ may be yourself or another person. The Student is the person who receives the tutoring service through sessions of tutoring, either in person or online.
The terms “us/we/our” and “the Company” refer to Bright Light Education Ltd.
The “Tutor” is the person who tutors the Client or Student. This ‘Tutor’ is a self-employed tutor introduced to the Client by Bright Light Education Ltd.
“Engagement” means the engagement, employment or use of the Tutor by the Client.
“Introduction” means the Client’s interview of a potential Tutor in person or by telephone, following the Client’s instruction to Bright Light Education Ltd to search for a Tutor.
“Sessions” means aperiod of time during which the Tutor promises to engage in tuition for the Client, for which the Client promises to pay the Tutor.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
If you continue to engage with Bright Light Education Ltd, you are agreeing to these Terms and Conditions of Bright Light Education Ltd.
WHO WE ARE:
Bright Light Education Ltd is an agent for the introduction of one or more tutors to the Client. The aim of this tutor agency is to be able to offer the prospective Client a range of Tutors who they can contact for tuition.
Bright Light Education Ltd is a member of The Tutors’ Association, which is the only professional membership body for tutoring and the wider supplementary education sector in the UK. As a member, we have signed and must adhere to the “Code of Professional Practice for Tutoring Companies” and all of our Tutors must sign and adhere to the “Code of Ethics for Tutors”. Both documents are available upon request.
The Tutors who we may pass work on to must be qualified teachers with enhanced DBS checks (unless stated otherwise on the tutor profile). Before we allow tutors to join our agency, we interview them to ensure that their teaching values are in line with our own. We also require them to sign an Agreement with us to show their commitment and professional attitude towards teaching. We sometimes require references from their employers.
Our Tutors are self-employed. They are entirely responsible for their relationship with their Client, including correspondence and teaching. Bright Light Education Ltd holds no responsibility for the tutors’ insurances, policies and teaching methods. It is the Client’s responsibility to inform the Tutor of medical conditions or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, that they feel the Tutor should know about.
Whilst every care and reasonable effort is made to check the suitability of the Tutor, we strongly recommend that the Client make their own enquiries and checks.
We recommend that the Tutor teaches at the Client’s home, but this is a decision that can be made between Client and Tutor directly.
Bright Light Education Ltd shall not be liable under any circumstances for any loss, expense, damage, delay, costs or compensation (whether direct, indirect or consequential) which may be suffered or incurred by the Client arising from or in any way connected with Bright Light Education Ltd seeking a Tutor for the Client or from the Introduction to or Engagement of any Tutor by the Client or from the failure of Bright Light Education to introduce any Tutor. For the avoidance of doubt, Bright Light Education Ltd does not exclude liability for death or personal injury arising from its own negligence.
AGREEMENT WITH THE TUTOR:
By booking a session with the Tutor, the Client agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions for the provision of tutoring services. This agreement governs the relationship between the Client and the Tutor and the Client is not permitted to make any private or other arrangements with the Tutor who has been introduced by Bright Light Education Ltd.
A breach of this term will render the Client liable to Bright Light Education Ltd for any sums paid direct to the Tutor without deduction and Bright Light Education Ltd shall be entitled to seek an injunction against the Client to prevent further breaches. This obligation continues beyond the termination or conclusion of this agreement.
As agent for the Tutor, Bright Light Education Ltd will agree with the Client and Tutor a fee based on an hourly rate. After each session, the Client will sign the Tutor’s time-sheet that details the date and length of each session.
Bright Light Education Ltd will invoice the Client at the end of each calendar month. Payment must be made within 10 days of receipt of the invoice.
Fees are non-refundable once the lesson has taken place. The Client agrees not to make any payments directly to the Tutor at any time.
CANCELLATION OF LESSONS:
- 1:1 Sessions:
If one lesson needs to be cancelled by the Client, the Client must make suitable arrangements with the Tutor at least two weeks in advance. The Tutor will make every effort to re-arrange that lesson, but the Tutor is not obliged to do this if it is not possible. If a lesson is cancelled by the Client within 24 hours of the lesson (excluding weekends and bank holidays), the Client must pay for the missed lesson.
The Client can request to stop tutoring sessions with the Tutor at any time but must pay for all lessons that have taken place.
Bright Light Education reserves the right to request that a Tutor stops arranging sessions with the Client at any time.
- Group Sessions and Home-Schooling Sessions:
We require a minimum of half a term’s commitment for group sessions. Payment must be paid in advance to cover the half term and is non-refundable. Money cannot be refunded for missed lessons. Discounts are sometimes available for siblings / special offers.
- Workshops and Courses:
Payment for workshops and courses must be made by the date specified and is non-refundable. Money cannot be refunded for missed lessons (except in special circumstances and agreed by the Tutor). Discounts are sometimes available for siblings / special offers.
- Cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances:
If 1:1 sessions, group sessions, workshops or courses cannot go ahead due to unforeseen circumstances, then the Client will be refunded fully.
The Client confirms that they have read, understood and agrees to the policies of Bright Light Education Ltd. These policies are:

Bright Light Education Ltd shall not be liable for any loss, expense, damage, delay, costs or compensation which may be incurred by the Student or Client whilst connected to the tuition, only where it is prescribed by law.
Whilst we work exceptionally hard to support and extend the learning of all students, we are not responsible for lack of progress, exam failure and negative school report grades.
This agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales and the parties submit to the jurisdiction of the Courts of England and Wales.
These terms constitute the whole agreement between the Client and Bright Light Education Ltd and no variation or alteration of these terms shall be valid unless approved in writing by a Director of the Company. Bright Light Education Ltd reserves the right to alter these terms and conditions and will notify the Client in writing of any changes.
The Client acknowledges that these terms govern the legal rights and obligations between the Client and Bright Light Education Ltd.
