“This course has inspired our daughter to write an adventure story. She has learned many ‘powerful words’ which are essential for a descriptive writing. She writes one chapter in each lesson and is looking forward to completing her own storybook! The teacher motivates the students really well and teaches a step-by-step guide with lots of techniques. I would highly recommend this course.” (Kaori, parent)

Aspiring Authors Club Details:

Year 3 Creative Writing ClubIn this 12-week course, children learn to write their very own adventure story. Whilst reading Mr Penguin and the Lost Treasure each week, the children learn how to write character and setting descriptions using skills and techniques such as figurative language, senses, ambitious vocabulary and Show Don't Tell. They also learn how to map out and plan a story from beginning to end, ensuring a clear storyline.

As they are writing their own mini-book, the children will be encouraged to write with neat handwriting and well-presented paragraphs.

Parents would need to purchase a copy of Mr Penguin and the Lost Treasure: Book 1 for this club.

“The Mr Penguin and the Lost Treasure” course has been a great course to get my son thinking creatively and learning to write his own story!”

  3. Farhana

“I’ve been with Bright Light Education for a number of years now. I started off with my daughter four years ago, not feeling confident in supporting her with Literacy as it has many components! The lessons went so well I wanted my older son to benefit as he was heading into year 7 so they then designed an extended course for him which he loved! My youngest son is now completing the “Mr Penguin and the Lost Treasure” course and the transformation in his literacy is amazing! His love for reading, formulating paragraphs, story writing and just an overall confidence in putting pencil to paper! I would be at a loss without Bright Light Education.”

  4. Veronica

“My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed the Mr. Penguin course. She is excited when her lesson comes around each week. The teacher guides and gives gentle structuring which has given my daughter the opportunity to create a wonderfully imaginative story independently. My daughter’s spelling, punctuation and confidence has increased too!”

  5. Ayshea

“My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed reading Mr Penguin. She has benefitted so much from the course, with her ideas and writing skills improving week on week. Thank you for such a wonderful course!”

  6. Kiri

“This Year 2-3 creative writing club has been absolutely fabulous for [my son]. [My son] does not enjoy writing but he really enjoys the club. Natasha has really been able to help him develop his writing. During the class the review of what he has written and perhaps how he could develop that further has been very helpful.”
