Upper Key Stage 2 Creative Writing After-School Clubs

What is included in the programme?

• Simple Tool Kits on how to deliver the lessons (it's very straightforward).

How long can my school use the clubs for?

You can access the clubs for as long as you have purchased the programme for. A school term is based on a UK school term (around 4 months). If you have purchased one term, please let us know when your term ends, in the additional information box during check out. Please also let us know the email address/es for the teacher/s who will be accessing the clubs, so that we can set up an account for them. There is no limit on how many times you run the clubs during the set period. 

Overview of the Clubs:

Term 1:

Word Wizards Club:
Length of club: 5 x 1 hour sessions
In these five sessions, children focus on learning how to use literary devices effectively in writing. We use the acronym, SHAMPOOP, to guide their learning (similes, hyperbole, alliteration, metaphors, personification, onomatopoeia, oxymorons and pathetic fallacy). The children will be exposed to different extracts from children's novels and will use inspiration from these stories to write short pieces focusing on character, setting and weather descriptions.

A Dragon's Tale Club:
Length of club: 5 x 1 hour sessions

Amazing Amazon Adventure Club:
Length of club: 5 x 1 hour sessions

During these five sessions, children will create some wonderful characters who find themselves immersed in the Amazon rainforest, battling against various encounters and desperate to reach their goal! Will they succeed? Each session, the children will write a different section of their story, together with practising literary devices and developing a rich vocabulary. It is a fun-filled and interactive course!
