Our Imaginative Ideas Club is designed to support Year 3 and 4 children with creative writing (ages 7-9). The club is 10 sessions long (1 hour per session) and generally schools choose to run the club over one term, with one lesson per week.

Our Imaginative Ideas Club is designed to support Year 3 and 4 children with creative writing. The club is 10 sessions long (1 hour per session) and generally schools choose to run the club over one term, with one lesson per week.
No planning is needed by the teacher. The club comprises of 10 high quality PowerPoints which the teacher works through, together with our photocopiable resources. Within the club, children create their very own "Ideas Book". This book will be unique to each child; a book which they can use for many years to find inspiration when writing. Additionally, the children will learn how to use their sentences when writing different sections of a story.
What is included?

- Tool Kit on how to use the PowerPoints (it's very straightforward).
- Optional extra tasks if needed.
- PDF advert about the club which can be emailed to parents.
- Writing Assessment Grid for assessing progress (if required)
- Support from a live teacher to answer any questions you might have.
How long can my school use the materials for?
Schools purchase a termly licence. Schools are allowed to run as many clubs as they would like to, within the purchased time frame. If a school would like to purchase an annual licence, please contact us directly.

Overview of the Club:
Session 1: Hot, sunny weather
Within this session, the children practise using a range of literary devices (similes, hyperbole, personification) to describe hot, sunny weather, together with learning new vocabulary. They conclude with up-levelling a postcard.
Session 2: Describing Happiness
Within this session, children practise using the Show Don't Tell technique to describe happiness in a range of ways. They conclude with some poetry writing.
Session 3: The Beach
Within this session, children write the first part of a story entitled, The Day at the Beach, learning how to use skills and structure to make their writing stand out.
Session 4: Cloudy, rainy weather
Within this session, children use literary devices and ambitious vocabulary to describe cloudy, rainy weather. They conclude by creating an advert to entice frogs to the wonderful town of Rainsville.Â
Session 5: Describing Sadness
Within this session, children practise using the Show Don't Tell technique to describe sadness in a range of ways. They conclude by writing a sad letter about the new house rules to their parents.
Session 6: The Forest
Within this session, children use what they have learned so far to write a short story about a race through a forest.
Session 7: Windy Weather
Within this session, children learn to describe windy weather using a range of literary devices. To conclude, they write a news report about a hurricane.
Session 8: Describing Fear
Within this session, children practise using the Show Don't Tell technique to describe fear in a range of ways. To conclude, they write a descriptive paragraph about being alone in a room.
Session 9: The Old, Eerie House
Within this session, children use what they have learned so far to create the first part of a story called The Old, Eerie House.
Session 10: Cold, Snowy Weather
Within this session, children create some sensational sentences about cold, snowy weather. To conclude, they create some poetry.
