*Book now for Summer Term 2*
Our 5-session “Creative Writing: Developing Characters in Story Writing” course has been specially designed for Years 4-6 children, including those taking the 11+ exams. Your child must be in Years 4-6 at the time of the course (or the equivalent if outside the UK). The aim of the course is to build and feed your child’s love of creative writing with a focus on developing characters in story writing. It seeks to inspire and encourage a love of writing and will be fun-filled but with hard work along the way! This course follows on from our original course, “Creative Writing: Core Skills and Story Writing”. It is recommended that your child attends our “Creative Writing: Core Skills and Story Writing” course first although it is not essential. Our “Creative Writing: Writing for Different Purposes” course can be taken before or after this one.
Each session, the children will respond to a writing task and all the tasks have the opportunity to include a character description. Many of the tasks are based on past 11+ creative writing tasks. The tasks include writing about an extraordinary person; a villainous character; an animal and a futuristic character! Within each lesson, the children will learn vocabulary to help with their character description as well as how to develop their character through the use of writing devices such as figurative language, Show Don’t Tell, senses and more! Every lesson, the children will also practise planning their piece of writing as well as thinking how best to start their story and develop it carefully.
- Each session is for 1.5 hours.
- There will be a maximum of 6 children per class.
- Fully interactive with homework set and in-depth marking.
