Jackie Maths Tutor

I am a recently semi-retired Maths Teacher having had 16 years’ experience in both the State and Private sectors from Years 2 to 13 and have been private tutoring both face to face and online for more than 2 years with excellent results. I always have the highest expectations of pupils and this is an approach I have found to pay rich dividends in terms of a pupil’s academic and personal development.

I have a passion and flare for teaching one to one and take great joy and pride in the child’s journey to increased confidence and success. Initially I assess the child across the syllabus and ask if there are any specific problem areas from both the pupil and parents. I then prepare lessons based on the child’s needs, personality and concentration skills. This focusses on their personal needs and style of learning.

Many years of teaching (and parenting) have given me the skills, tactics and knowledge to assess potential, ability and to structure lessons to suit. Although, sometimes on arrival I leave the prepared lesson and focus on helping with difficulties the child or parents may come up with via reports or lessons.

I have helped numerous children through the Key Stages, Pre-tests, Common Entrance, GCSE’s and GCE’s. Working closely with both parents and children encourages a positive, informed and encouraging working relationship.

I teach in person and online.

“I highly recommend Jackie. She started tutoring my 9 year old daughter (year 5) for the 11+ exam. After a short time we saw big improvement and confidence in [our daughter], so then asked Jackie to also tutor our younger daughter (7 year old, year 2).
Jackie is thoughtful, calm and kind. My older one has always struggled with maths and Jackie has helped her by reviewing topics and/or teaching new methods for problem solving. She provides the perfect amount of homework and is productive during their 1:1 sessions. She is also flexible and happy to revise anything that [our daughter] had trouble with from school that week.
Our younger daughter has a great time with Jackie. She is racing ahead in her studies and feeling really confident. [Our daughter] loves learning new topics and her 1:1 sessions.” (Parent)
